You’re invited to a very special occasion.....one day!

So I don’t know whether you know this or not, but I can’t get married ... not legally anyway. And let’s be clear, it isn’t like I have anyone I would want to tie the knot with at the moment in my life - but if I waited till it was convenient for me to stand up and say something I’d never get anything done (and honestly, when do I wait to say something)!

In Australia, same-sex partners can’t legally marry, but laws can change. Late last year the Federal Parliament passed a motion calling on MPs to consult with their constituents about whether Australia should allow same-sex couples to marry. You may have been asked your opinion in a council newsletter or someone may have come door to door... or like me and many other people I know, you may have not known about this at all (my brother was the one who initially let me know).
To be able to legally marry the person I love is a luxury that I’m not afforded. While I respect that there may always be those that don’t agree with my lifestyle; which is their right, I don’t respect that by law I am not granted equal rights to anyone else because I happen to love a dude.

And that’s where I’m asking for your help. What can you do?

Click here and show your support:

Now is the time that your voice can really count, in less than a month your MP will be asked to report back to Parliament about the views of their constituents about same sex marriage. And your opinion, whether it is for or against, should be heard (though if it is against I would love to know why... seriously...call me).

You could even make an appointment with your MP and tell them what you think, no voice is too small, but we all lead busy lives and at the end of the day standing up and being counted is all that matters.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, if I ever get married you’re invited!

Every year I have wanted to be a part of the Worlds Greatest shave, and every year I have been doing the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Now I'm not saying my strength is in my hair, far from it, but I am a short fat Italian, and I am vain! So I didnt cut my hair... until now! No Comedy Festival this year (I will update you about that shortly) so that mans I have time to sort my head out. So I have shaved my head to raise money for Leukaemia research. Stewart the Steward hit Sydney!

What an amazing weekend I have had. And now I have the pictures to prove it!

Plane delays, sleep delirium and poster wars Stewart hit Sydney with gay abandon for the start of the Mardi Gras Festival

He got snapped in the streets of Sydney, tackled by tourists and camped it up under the 'bear tree'. Fair day was filled with fun acts and a gaggle of people celebrating their pride.

Have you checked what is on this Mardi Gras, if not get involved, click here and see what's on! There is so much going on that you won't want to miss out. Don't forget about me of course performing at The Supper club on March 4th. Details are at my website

Last but not least I had the pleasure of signing my name to the Australian Marriage Equality Register.... have you?? While here in Australia we live in a progressive country where so many different things are accepted, I am gutted that this basic right is one that is denied to me and so many others. While I am still looking for love I don't plan on waiting until I find 'the one' to fight for my right!

And you can help too:
You can check more details here or why not check them out on facebook here

What a treat your getting this Mardi Gras!

You get more Dean for you dollar this Mardi Gras with a special encore treat giving 'Now Boarding : Destination Unknown' audiences just what they want, more fun and frivolity. While the bears dance downstairs and the leather men sip cocktails upstairs Dean will be donning his skin tight lycra and singing a selection of hits from his 'Craptastica - Where one hit wonders never die', 'Memoirs of a Stalker' and 'To Sir with Glove' in - 'DEAN AFTER DARK'

Don't miss out on all the fun - tickets for Now Boarding are available by clicking here

Stewarts getting a makeover!

So I decided that Stewart the Steward needed some sprucing up for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras this year. When I first created the character way back in 2007, the posh first class trolley dolly was dressed in a shirt and tie while he sang up a storm in economy travel, not to mention the size of my hair! But for Sydney he is embracing his sexuality in a skimpy outfit that's bright and buxom.

What do you think of the 'new; Steward the Stewart?

ONLY ONE MORE NIGHT OF CRAPTASTIA TO GO!!!!

Well Craptastica has begun and the crowd have been loving it! From sing alongs to lycra and thongs the fun hasn't stopped at Neverwhere this week. And tonight is the last night!!! So come on down and don't miss out - details here

Last night I was given the extra treat of having seeing what was on after my show... DRAG KINGS!!! And they were awesome, sure I was a little confused because I thought some of the 'guys' looked really cute and then reality hit me...... they weren't guys at all. But seeing the drag kings in action opened my mind to a whole new world of performing I cant wait to explore, and you can too, Friday nights at neverwhere.

But there is more to Midsumma with the festival bar open tonight, just paste the below as your facebook status and you get in for free:

TONIGHT at the Midsumma Festival Club @ Donkey Wheel House - Em Rusciano (7PM Project) and Brendan Maclean (Triple J)! Come from 9pm - $5 entry. **show this as your Facebook status at the front door and get in for free

And now I am letting my frustrated ranter out about this article  posted in The Age today.

WHAT A RANTY LOAD OF CRAP!!!

I have read it in full 4 times and I just get angrier and angrier, how can someone say:
'Now, the gay arts culture exists as a currency for those who have given up on art.'
If you feel something isnt being represented properly or isnt being explored in the Midsumma Festival then instead of whinging about it (which, lets be honest so many people do during Midsumma whithout actually experianceing what is on offer), why not get your hands dirty and work towards putting something in next year that does this. Or put the power of your pen to better use and delve into the many avenues that the Midsumma Festival and Midsumma Arts Program has to offer, after all there is more to Midsumma; all you have to do is look.
And don't even start me on:
'In this hideously democratised world, Oscar Wilde and Todd Haynes have no ranking that exceeds RuPaul.'
This just made me want to punch a wall.
What a waiste of potential this article is, instead of taking a really interesting look at the use of sexuality in the arts and how queer culture is branching out from the fringe thanks to the Midsumma Festival, it just devolves into a bash and bitchfest! I get enough of that on the 'scene' I do not need it in my paper.
This article does more for the 'marginality' of the queer arts than the queer arts themselves.
Walk a mile in their stillettos! It aint as easy as you think sister!

Did you see Dean at Midsumma?

What do you do on a 30 degree day, why where some layers of lycra of course! Sure it was hot and my feet where on fire by the end of my set, but I wasn't going to be outdone for flair when I have drag queens to compete with!

Now they give you a run for your money!

So I put on my lycra with backing tracks in hand and prepared myself on the Yarra Stage at 12:15... I was a little worried, normally I'm used to the Midsumma Palms stage with its comfy grass and shade, so this year I was in for something completely different.

But the minute I stepped out in lycra a crowd began to form as I Tainted Loved and Kung Fu fought my way through the set, I even got a few gays singing along to Cool Rider. Who could ask for anything more!

Not me that's for sure!

I hope everyone had as much fun as I did! Everyone got a kick out of the mock speed dating I did, where Donna, Emma and Cookie had to speed date with me and then the audience had to vote on the best date!

They were a tonne of fun!

Now let the Midsumma fun BEGIN!

Don't forget Craptastica opens next week at Neverwhere and the week After we have Sci Fi Speed Dating! Who wouldnt want to be a part of all the fun. For more details go to my website by clicking HERE

And you still have a week to pick the songs Dean gets to sing in his one hit wonder craptastica!

Simply got to his website for all the details.
