ONLY ONE MORE NIGHT OF CRAPTASTIA TO GO!!!!

Well Craptastica has begun and the crowd have been loving it! From sing alongs to lycra and thongs the fun hasn't stopped at Neverwhere this week. And tonight is the last night!!! So come on down and don't miss out - details here

Last night I was given the extra treat of having seeing what was on after my show... DRAG KINGS!!! And they were awesome, sure I was a little confused because I thought some of the 'guys' looked really cute and then reality hit me...... they weren't guys at all. But seeing the drag kings in action opened my mind to a whole new world of performing I cant wait to explore, and you can too, Friday nights at neverwhere.

But there is more to Midsumma with the festival bar open tonight, just paste the below as your facebook status and you get in for free:

TONIGHT at the Midsumma Festival Club @ Donkey Wheel House - Em Rusciano (7PM Project) and Brendan Maclean (Triple J)! Come from 9pm - $5 entry. **show this as your Facebook status at the front door and get in for free

And now I am letting my frustrated ranter out about this article  posted in The Age today.

WHAT A RANTY LOAD OF CRAP!!!

I have read it in full 4 times and I just get angrier and angrier, how can someone say:
'Now, the gay arts culture exists as a currency for those who have given up on art.'
If you feel something isnt being represented properly or isnt being explored in the Midsumma Festival then instead of whinging about it (which, lets be honest so many people do during Midsumma whithout actually experianceing what is on offer), why not get your hands dirty and work towards putting something in next year that does this. Or put the power of your pen to better use and delve into the many avenues that the Midsumma Festival and Midsumma Arts Program has to offer, after all there is more to Midsumma; all you have to do is look.
And don't even start me on:
'In this hideously democratised world, Oscar Wilde and Todd Haynes have no ranking that exceeds RuPaul.'
This just made me want to punch a wall.
What a waiste of potential this article is, instead of taking a really interesting look at the use of sexuality in the arts and how queer culture is branching out from the fringe thanks to the Midsumma Festival, it just devolves into a bash and bitchfest! I get enough of that on the 'scene' I do not need it in my paper.
This article does more for the 'marginality' of the queer arts than the queer arts themselves.
Walk a mile in their stillettos! It aint as easy as you think sister!
