ONLY ONE MORE NIGHT OF CRAPTASTIA TO GO!!!!

Well Craptastica has begun and the crowd have been loving it! From sing alongs to lycra and thongs the fun hasn't stopped at Neverwhere this week. And tonight is the last night!!! So come on down and don't miss out - details here

Last night I was given the extra treat of having seeing what was on after my show... DRAG KINGS!!! And they were awesome, sure I was a little confused because I thought some of the 'guys' looked really cute and then reality hit me...... they weren't guys at all. But seeing the drag kings in action opened my mind to a whole new world of performing I cant wait to explore, and you can too, Friday nights at neverwhere.

But there is more to Midsumma with the festival bar open tonight, just paste the below as your facebook status and you get in for free:

TONIGHT at the Midsumma Festival Club @ Donkey Wheel House - Em Rusciano (7PM Project) and Brendan Maclean (Triple J)! Come from 9pm - $5 entry. **show this as your Facebook status at the front door and get in for free

And now I am letting my frustrated ranter out about this article  posted in The Age today.

WHAT A RANTY LOAD OF CRAP!!!

I have read it in full 4 times and I just get angrier and angrier, how can someone say:
'Now, the gay arts culture exists as a currency for those who have given up on art.'
If you feel something isnt being represented properly or isnt being explored in the Midsumma Festival then instead of whinging about it (which, lets be honest so many people do during Midsumma whithout actually experianceing what is on offer), why not get your hands dirty and work towards putting something in next year that does this. Or put the power of your pen to better use and delve into the many avenues that the Midsumma Festival and Midsumma Arts Program has to offer, after all there is more to Midsumma; all you have to do is look.
And don't even start me on:
'In this hideously democratised world, Oscar Wilde and Todd Haynes have no ranking that exceeds RuPaul.'
This just made me want to punch a wall.
What a waiste of potential this article is, instead of taking a really interesting look at the use of sexuality in the arts and how queer culture is branching out from the fringe thanks to the Midsumma Festival, it just devolves into a bash and bitchfest! I get enough of that on the 'scene' I do not need it in my paper.
This article does more for the 'marginality' of the queer arts than the queer arts themselves.
Walk a mile in their stillettos! It aint as easy as you think sister!

Did you see Dean at Midsumma?

What do you do on a 30 degree day, why where some layers of lycra of course! Sure it was hot and my feet where on fire by the end of my set, but I wasn't going to be outdone for flair when I have drag queens to compete with!

Now they give you a run for your money!

So I put on my lycra with backing tracks in hand and prepared myself on the Yarra Stage at 12:15... I was a little worried, normally I'm used to the Midsumma Palms stage with its comfy grass and shade, so this year I was in for something completely different.

But the minute I stepped out in lycra a crowd began to form as I Tainted Loved and Kung Fu fought my way through the set, I even got a few gays singing along to Cool Rider. Who could ask for anything more!

Not me that's for sure!

I hope everyone had as much fun as I did! Everyone got a kick out of the mock speed dating I did, where Donna, Emma and Cookie had to speed date with me and then the audience had to vote on the best date!

They were a tonne of fun!

Now let the Midsumma fun BEGIN!

Don't forget Craptastica opens next week at Neverwhere and the week After we have Sci Fi Speed Dating! Who wouldnt want to be a part of all the fun. For more details go to my website by clicking HERE

And you still have a week to pick the songs Dean gets to sing in his one hit wonder craptastica!

Simply got to his website for all the details.

A new deanday is dawning!

Okay, its official, I am social networked out! Between, facebook, myspace, twitter, facebook fanpage, Dean Update E-mails, Dateing with Dean, You tube and so much more I just cant seem to keep on top of it all, which I am sure you can tell since this blog gets less action than a geek on prom night!

So I'm amping up, this blog is now the main page of my webpage, I'm combining everything else so that it will all interconnect and you can follow me however you want!

I look forward to the cyber stalking.

Gillard will not steal my thunder!!!!

Okay, so I haven't been blogging in quite some time, but there is a reason, I haven't had internet! But all thats changing now!

I was asked by the delightful Kaye Sera to perform a short season at Kaye Seras Bizarre, and how could I refuse her, but then the red headed Prime Minister went and decided to put an election on the weekend of my show. The opportunity was too good to refuse, and thus a new show was born!

What do you think???

Screw the water front, its all about Arnotts!

So I'm back from performing in Sydney and what a whirlwind it was but when it comes right down to it, the major differences between Melbourne and Sydney come down to one thing...the biscuits.

For those that have never seen 'To Sir with Glove ?!?' let me begin by saying....shame on you! But you would know that I start the show dreassed in leather chaps and handing out Iced Vovos, just to confuse the hell out of everyone.

But in Sydney I had no luck finding Iced Vovos, so I decided Assorted Creams would be a better way to go, I mean everyone loves a Kingston, but there was enough Variety and they come in a family pack.

So there I am, with a crowd of 130 people and all I wanted to do was offload a plate of biscuites so that I could start the show, I mean it is a fun mix of leather and cream, sweet and dark, I would be all set to soften them up and sing up a comedic storm.

But I couldnt shift the damn biscuits.

All the bears were watching their figure because they were going to Underbear after the show, and as for the rest, there were too many points, or I had a large dinner! I mean seriously, what the hell is this! In Melbourne they would have been fighting for each other for them, but in Sydney 1 biscuit could ruin your figure!! Or maybe they thought I had spiked them. At the end of the day thank god for the bears, I was able to shift the quick smart.

But never mind the nightlife, the opera house or that big bridge... at the end of the day, the true schysm comes down to Arnotts.

Just bite the bullet and take the biscuit like a real man!

Thanks Sydney, you were great, and as for the rest of you, comeing this April as a part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival ... To Sir with Glove ?!? - Don't miss it!
